President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in Khujand took part and spoke at the republican celebrations in honor of the International Holiday of Navruz, the press service of the head of state reports.
During his speech, Emomali Rahmon called independence a fateful gift to the nation, and Navruz – “the golden pillar of the glorious history of Tajiks, who jointly unite today’s and future generations with national traditions and customs bequeathed to us by our glorious ancestors.”
The head of state believes that one of the important factors in the strength of the nation is the presence of ancient holidays such as Sada, Navruz, Mehrgon and Tirgon.
As part of the celebration, a concert program was held at the central stadium of Khujand, representing the achievements of the period of independence, good customs, traditions and rituals of Navruz. The event was attended by representatives of the creative and cultural intelligentsia of the country, foreign delegations.
The President has been in Sughd since March 29. The end of his visit is scheduled for April 1.
As part of a working trip, the head of state has already visited Khujand, Guliston, Istiklol, Bobojongafur district.
