A Cork Spot Has Been Announced Best New Indian Restaurant in Munster

The inaugural Asian Restaurant Awards were held this week in Dublin and a Cork spot scooped ‘Best New Indian Restaurant in Munster’.

Located on Carrigaline’s Main Street, Ritu has gained a serious reputation for its carefully crafted menu, representing the six seasons of India.

Best Indian Restaurant in Munster also went to Coriander, a Nepalese and Indian restaurant located in Douglas and Ballincollig

Best Japanese Restaurant in Munster is the stylish Sakura on MacCurtain Street.

The Asian Restaurant Week and Awards were set up by former restaurateur and hospitality consultant Paul O’Connor and food writer and journalist Suzanne Campbell to celebrate and highlight the ever-expanding Asian food scene in Ireland.

Restaurant finalists were from both Northern and Southern Ireland representing food from China, Japan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, and cuisines from the South East Asian region.

“Having been involved with Asian food businesses for many years the community was continually asking me to host something to celebrate Asian food in Ireland. So this restaurant week and awards celebrate the varied cuisines and culture of India and countries in this region,” said O’Connor.
